Monsu is a bit of a weird one.It's a free to play card-based platformer. You can also combine a tornado with a llama and ride it.Before we get too bonkers, let's bring it back to the land of the sensible as I tell you what Monsu is really all about.Right then, Monsu has you playing as an angry monster who bashes his way through thieving villagers to get his cards back.Half of the game is an action-packed sidescrolling platformer - you even collect coins. The other half involves battling against your enemies with cards.The more people you beat, the more and hopefully better cards you'll have. And, as said, you can combine cards to create new effects. That's the barmy part of the game.Progression is endless in Monsu, so you can keep playing for as long as you like. You can even battle against friends.You can download Monsu on the App Store for free right now. It should be coming to Android as well at some point....

After a month of being on iOS, the Bronze Award-winning Run Sackboy! Run! has found its footing on Android.It's a patchwork endless runner derived from the LittleBigPlanet games. You win nothing for guessing that you play as Sackboy as he runs through sidescrolling levels - not with that title.As you have him spring and jump to escape the Negativitron, you'll collect power-ups, stickers, and costumes.If you fancy giving it a go, it's free-to-play on Google Play, and supported by IAPs....

Following the Nintendo Spotlight, and a heck of a lot of announcements, we're going to get a better look at Super Mario Odyssey at Treehouse Live and it looks pretty great.From the interview with Yoshiaki Koizumi and Kenta Motokura, the theme of 'going on a journey' is a core part to Super Mario Odyssey, but there's still that element of surprise hiding between the layers (hence the T-Rex). However, the surprise was also balanced with an emotional familiarity that's cute from the Mario series.Motokura explains that the overall story of the game is that you take over different enemies/object by throwing your hat and taking over whatever being it lands on. The city itself is inspired by certain Donkey Kong elements, but more information will be revealed in time.From the gameplay, things are looking pretty tidy. You don't take fall damage even if you jump from the tallest building (so long as you've got something to fall onto), you can wall-jump, swing from bars, climb various surfaces, and more. You've got three hearts, but dying in-game doesn't amount in much punishment as you'll only lose ten coins.Mario can also throw Cappy - his hat - by using the Joy-Con's motion controls which is a really neat effect. In terms of coins, there are two types. The purple triangle sorts can be found in the Desert Kingdom and can only be used here. The yellow coins can only be used in New Donk City.One of the coolest features is the pipe transitions which then change Mario from a 3D figure into a 2D figure who can still work his way around a 3D environment. It's a very nice touch.There's a lot that can be said about Super Mario Odyssey, but I'll include a link to the video once it's available so you guys can see if for yourself. For me, Pascal’s Wager might have been one of the more promising games shown off during Apple's 'By Innovation Only' event. It’s set in a bleak, monster-filled world without light, ravaged by the conflict between a fanatical cult, the all-powerful church, and the corrupt courts.It’s perhaps best described as a Soulslike experience, with a focus on tight, challenging combat. Visually and in terms of world design, Pascal’s Wager is very clearly inspired by Bloodborne, which – in my eyes, at least – is no bad thing.From the gameplay I’ve seen, it successfully replicates the dodging, parries and pace of From Software’s best work, with some impressive monster designs of its own to boot.It also has a much greater emphasis on story than you might think, weaving an intriguing and disturbing tale. Developers often talk about their work being of ‘console quality’, though so few of the games that attempt such a task actually end up delivering. So it’s nice to see Pascal’s Wager come pretty darn close to the games that so clearly inspired it....
