CHAPTER 23

    A RAVEN saw a Swan and desired to secure for himself the same beautiful plumage. Supposing that the Swan's splendid white color arose from his washing in the water in which he swam, the Raven left the altars in the neighborhood where he picked up his living, and took up residence in the lakes and pools. But cleansing his feathers as often as he would, he could not change their color, while through want of food he perished.

    'O father, what a hell of witchcraft lies&#;
While the first and second days of Tokyo Game Show are only open to press and distributors, the doors are open to everyone at the weekend.

On these two days, the masses descended upon the site of Tokyo Game Show, Makuhari Messe (peculiarly in neighbouring Chiba prefecture rather than Tokyo) with each influx totalling around 100,000 people on each day.

Indies and mobile took over this year, grabbing multiple areas across each huge hall. As the only respite from the centre of the crowded show floor, visibility for devs in these areas increased dramatically.

Meanwhile, the death of handhelds has been greatly exaggerated. Each of the big third-party devs were pushing both core and new franchises on 3DS and PS Vita, even if they were reluctant to share any information detailing western releases.

Cosplay Collection Night is a regular feature at TGS, and this year didn't disappoint with all manner of high calibre homemade costumes, with my favourites being Chrono Trigger, Persona Q, and Dragon's Crown.

Nary a yen was left in anyone's pocket by the end of the show thanks to the huge TGS shopping area. Capcom, Square-Enix, Konami, and SEGA all sold exclusive merch that had fans queuing for hours.

Prices ranged from ¥8,100 for Konami's iDroid iPhone case down to ¥100 for official Puyo Puyo gummy sweets from SEGA. I'm not going to lie - I couldn't resist the Fat Chocobo plush after my recent enamourment with Theatrhythm: Curtain Call.

Goodies for playing each game weren't as prevalent as previous years, but there was still the odd keychain (La-Mulana EX), plush (Space Pirate Popet), or tote bag (Monster Hunter 4G) to be won if you kept your eye out.

StreetPassing is as mad as ever in Japan. You can quite easily max out your limit of ten people within a few minutes on the show floor or in one of the waiting areas, and it often looked as if some folks were here just for that.

It's always a little sad to leave such an eventful show floor in the gaming Mecca of Japan, but at least we've left with a glance of things to come over the coming year.

But hey, at least EGX is kicking off today! Will you be about? Let us know what you'll be playing in the comments below!

A game of oceanic exploration and nautical adventure, Deep Loot was released in July for iOS and scored a Silver Award.

Now, you can grab it for Android, free on Google Play and the Amazon Appstore.

Deep Loot has been described by fans as a deep sea adventure game with mild roguelike qualities.

Our review called it an "entertaining game that rewards repeat play and boasts buckets of charm" - as long as you buy a few IAPs early on.

If you're into grindy games with lots of cool loot to find or purchase, or willing to invest some cash, Deep Loot isn't a bad choice.

A new content update is also in the works, which the developers at Monster and Monster are hoping to roll out in November across all platforms, simultaneously.

The update will add new ships, suits, loot, and locations to the game, plus a few Easter eggs.

Monster and Monster has also heard its community's pleas, and will push out a few new features fans have been asking for. This includes the ability to sell completed collections.

Download Deep Loot for free on Google Play or the Amazon Appstore now.
Spire Power (Demo)&#;

Rovio has been moving away from their little fluffy avian friends in recent times. For example, they globally released their match-3 puzzler Small Town Murders a few weeks ago. But that's not all they've been working on. There's also strategy title Hardhead Squad: MMO War which is currently available in soft-launch for iOS and Android.

The game initially soft-launched back on June 9th where it has received two updates since as the territories that are able to get involved have expanded. Initially, this included Finland, Denmark and The Philippines. Now, folks in Sweden and the US can also join in the fun.

The game itself promises to be a strategic affair where players will lead their troops to victory with the aim of conquering new territories. Along the way, there will be a variety of action heroes players can recruit that will bring devastating powers to the battlefield.
Small Town Murders is a crime-solving match-three puzzler from Rovio that's available now for iOS and Android
Since the game is largely focused on gaining new territories and inching your way towards global domination, there's also a chance that your own headquarters might come under fire. This means you'll need to research new technologies and constantly construct builds. This aspect of the game appears to operate through the standard timer-based building you're probably familiar with in mobile titles.

As the name suggests, there will also be a social element to Hardhead Squad: MMO War where you'll be able to team up in real-time with various players from around the world, or those who live in the soft-launch territories at least.

Hardhead Squad: MMO War is available now over on the App Store and Google Play in selected regions. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
Interested in other games currently available in soft-launch? Here's a list of everything we know aboutAppear to him as he to me appears,

The mobile remake of the classic fantasy RPG, Baldur’s Gate, has been updated to version 1.3.

With the update comes added support for the iPhone, along with small yet significant changes like font size customization and bug fixes.

While our review of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition from late 2012 spoke poorly of the port, diehard fans who’d rather not be inconvenienced with an iPad can now, at least, tap away at their favorite old-school RPG on their phone.

If you’re unfamiliar with Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, be sure to read our full review here.

If your mind is made, you can buy the game on the App Store for £6.99 / $9.99.
Touch Arcade&#;&#;

    That shall prefer and undertake my troth."&#;At least, Captain Jim's tea and conversation calmed Anne's mind to such an extent that she did not make Gilbert suffer so acutely on the way home as she had deliberately intended to do. She did not refer to the burning question at all, but she chatted amiably of other matters, and Gilbert understood that he was forgiven under protest.
