Sol Invictus is the sequel to Silver Award-winning gory gamebook Heavy Metal Thunder.

It picks up after the events of the first story, and sees you planning a guerilla war against an alien race that's oppressing and slaughtering humans at every turn.

The game features a whole new soundtrack, a rich and branching story, and three save slots so you can make multiple choices and find out what happens at every turn.

The first game was a grim and gritty adventure that dropped weighty choices on you at every turn. This is a universe dripping in blood and grey morality, where madness and suffocation are only ever a heartbeat away.
There and maybe back again
Sol Invictus is set to hit the App Store and the Google Play Store on January 8th.

So that's something to look forward to when the madness of Christmas has faded into a gin-soaked memory.

You can check out some screenshots of the game in the gallery at the top of the page, and we'll give you a stern reminder next year when the game is set to hit.
A SHEPHERD driving his Sheep to a wood, saw an oak of unusual size full of acorns, and spreading his cloak under the branches, he climbed up into the tree and shook them down. The Sheep eating the acorns inadvertently frayed and tore the cloak. When the Shepherd came down and saw what was done, he said, "O you most ungrateful creatures! You provide wool to make garments for all other men, but you destroy the clothes of him who feeds you."

After a decent run on Nintendo Switch earlier this year, it's been announced that This is the Police is on its way to iOS and Android. You can get your hands on it on December 13th for $7.99/£6.99.

Pokemon Masters received a whole host of new content last week with the addition of the Battle Villa and a plethora of other Story Events and new Sync Pairs. Today we see the return of the Lurking Shadow Legendary Event alongside a new type-specific Training Event.

Lurking Shadow originally ran last December, giving players an opportunity to get Giovanni & Mewtwo as a free Sync Pair. The catch was you had to do an awful lot of grinding to be able to make Mewtwo stronger because you weren't able to use regular training items. This led to a lot of folks ending the event without a fully kitted out Mewtwo.

Now it's returned until 16th March with various tweaks that should make the grind feel slightly less so. There are two types of Vouchers that are available in this event – Customer Voucher 1 and Custom Super Voucher 1 – which are used for increasing Mewtwo's Sync Move strength, Potential or to exchange for various training items, including 3-star level up manuals.

This time around the number of drops for both these voucher types have been increased. Additionally, a new singleplayer battle has been introduced so players can earn more Custom Voucher 1 than previously, taking some of the focus away from having to play co-op to earn them. However, the rewards for completing the co-op missions are tripled once per day, so they're worth doing.

Elsewhere there's currently an Electric-type Training Event which will offer a good opportunity to gain a lot of experience points for Pokemon of that typing. It will also offer vouchers that can be exchanged to increase the Sync Move strength of Hau & Raichu or for various training items.

This event will also run until 16th March. Both will also have their own set of missions to complete that will net players a mixture of Gems and training items. Specifically in the Electric-type Training Event's case, you'll also be able to grab yourself some co-op Sync Orbs. As always they're straightforward challenges that just involve grinding.

Pokemon Masters is available now on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
Need friends in Pokémon Masters? Share your friend codes here!

It's beyond a shadow of a doubt that we're massive fans of Aquiris' Horizon Chase series here at Pocket Gamer. The team's two tittes — Horizon Chase World Tour (Android & iOS) and Horizon Chase Turbo (Switch) — have been some of our most talked about games here, we just can't get enough of their arcade racer series.
We reviewed Horizon Chase Turbo when it launched last year, describing it as "a game of few fresh ideas that nevertheless remains compelling as an often electric arcade racing bonanza" before awarding it a Silver Rating.
Horizon Chase Turbo, for those who haven't yet played it, is an action-packed arcade racer inspired by OutRun and its ilk. It's all about going exceptionally fast, wrapping yourself around corners as you try to outpace dozens of road rivals. Visually it hearkens back to the previously mentioned OutRun, as well as the flat-polygon styles of many racers like Daytona or Virtua Racing. Structural buildings and the environments that you race through take on this flat-poly art-style, however, the horizons and skylines are much more detailed, and the vehicles are of a much more modern design. Basically, if you're looking at it for more than a couple of seconds then it is in higher detail.
Only a month! Marilla sighed and then said proudly:
